autumn evening routine

11:23 AM

I love Autumn - it's full of beautiful, warm colours and has me wishing for endless cosy evenings curled up in front of a fireplace. Whether you're nosy (like me), or looking for some inspiration on how to spice up your own night routine (to be honest, this probably isn't going to be the best post for that haha), keep reading!

Uni Work

I'm a second year student, so I often have weekly tests to study for and class exercises to finish - these almost always take priority over anything else I want to get done in the evening. I usually manage to finish most of the work while I'm on campus, but sometimes it just isn't possible.

To keep me company, in the background I'll have some piano worship instrumentals playing in the background or whichever series I'm binge-watching. Hunger usually strikes too, so I'll snack on some banana chips and a mug of Horlicks.

I'm actually pretty bad at keeping on top of a skincare routine. I don't wear makeup, so I don't have to worry about that, but my pores do clog occasionally and that usually kickstarts the skincare routine. I'll do a full post about the products I use in the future, but the basics of my skincare routine are "wipe, wash, (occasionally) scrub, (occasionally) mask, moisturize". This usually happens in the shower (we're in the middle of a drought, so baths are a no).

Work, work, work

After getting changed into something comfy, like pajamas or leggings and a soft sweatshirt, I switch from student to freelancer - checking in on client emails and finishing up projects, or doing some scheduling. This is usually pretty fun - I get to release my creative side.

Cosy time

After I've caught up on everything, and if I have some free time, I usually check out Twitter (if you don't already, you can follow me here: and read some other bloggers' posts, since I don't write many of my own, or watch a few videos on YouTube, or browse Pinterest and plan my dream apartment...

My favourite part of the night. I've really been trying to be in bed & asleep by 11pm (hear that laughter? That's the sound of the people who know me well 😂 I'm a night owl), so by 10:30, I'm shutting down my laptop, rounding up my dogs and brushing my teeth. If I'm not completely wiped out, I'll write a few lines in my journal... or basically do anything that doesn't involve a screen.

I discovered a few months back, for myself, that not looking at a screen for at least 20-30 minutes before I head to bed makes a massive difference in the amount of time it takes me to fall asleep.

This, obviously, marks the end of my evening routine! What's the most essential part of your evening? Let me know in the comments below.

Mad love,
